What ist Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ)

BJJ is a style of grappling like Judo, Wrestling & Sambo.
BJJ differentiates in its focus on groundwork in which the ultimate goal is to defeat your opponent using techniques like joint locks and chokes and get them to ‚tap‘.
Like Judo BJJ can be practiced wearing a jacket and pants („Gi“).
But you can practice BJJ like wrestling without a gi („no gi“) where instead of the gi we wear shorts, t-shirts or compression clothing like rash guards.

It’s best to wear tight-fitting clothing without zippers when training.

Short fingernails and toenails are important so that you do not injure yourself or others, so please remove jewelry/earrings/piercings before training.

We are part of the BJJ Globetrotters and thus a global community of like-minded individuals who support one another in training, traveling and meeting new people. We try to foster connections and healthy relationships based on friendship, mutual respect, and training, regardless of belt rank.

To do this we:

- Uphold and spread the values of BJJ Globetrotters.

- Welcome anyone to train, regardless of their affiliation or academy.

- Never prevent members from training elsewhere.

- Offer at least one week of free training to traveling BJJ Globetrotters members.

We treat our values seriously and expect everyone training here to follow them.
Respect your training partners – we are here to progress and have fun together, not to feed our egos at the expense of others.
Bullying and discrimination will not be tolerated. Everyone should be able to enjoy training here, regardless of their race, sexual orientation, gender or cultural background.
We are not interested in any tribal gym politics. We welcome visitors from other academies and we always encourage cross training.
